Galaxy S21 Series gets January 2023 security update while Galaxy A52 5G gets December 2022

Samsung released the first security update for the Galaxy Note 10 series in 2023. In some European nations, the company has begun distributing the January 2023 security update for the Galaxy S21 series.

The firmware version of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra has been raised to G99xBXXS5DVL3 with the most recent software update. The January 2023 security patch is included in the update, which is currently being released in Switzerland.

Although Samsung has not disclosed the security flaws it addresses, receiving additional information within the next week or so. Additionally, the update may include general bug fixes and enhancements to device stability.

If you live in Europe and have a Galaxy S21 series phone, go to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install to check for the update.

In early 2021, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S21 series with Android 11 installed. The lineup of devices received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update a few months ago and the Android 12-based One UI 4 update at the end of 2021. In the future, they will receive two additional Android OS updates.

The Galaxy A52 5G received the December 2022 security patch from Samsung last month. However, the update was only available for the smartphone’s international and US carrier-unlocked models. The most recent security update is now available for the US-market Galaxy A52 5G (SM-A526U), with no carrier restrictions.

The December 2022 security patch addresses a total of 93 security flaws. It is included in the most recent update, which comes with firmware version A526USQS7DVL1. The new firmware is at present carrying out gadgets that are on T-Mobile and MetroPCS. Within a few days, the update should also be available to units on other networks.

Most of the time, Samsung phones check for updates regularly and let you know when one comes out. However, if the December 2022 security update has not yet been sent to your Galaxy A52 5G, you can manually check for it by going to Settings » Software update and selecting Download and install.

Android 13 (One UI 5.0) was recently added to the Galaxy A52 5G. The phone was released with Android 11 (One UI 3.1) as its operating system, and it is expected to receive three OS updates. As a result, Android 14 will be installed on the Galaxy A52 5G when it arrives later this year. Additionally, security updates will continue until 2026.
