For smartphones, Samsung recently demonstrated its most recent OLED panel, the E6 Super AMOLED, which has a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The panel that is utilized in the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the same. Now that Android smartphone manufacturers are using the same panel, Xiaomi’s most recent phone appears to have set a new Android segment brightness record.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a peak screen brightness of 1,900 nits and an all-screen brightness of 1,200 nits, as shown in an image that was shared on Weibo by Xiaomi (via Ice Universe). In addition, Xiaomi claims that the battery life has increased by 22% compared to the previous year despite the high brightness levels. That could, however, be the result of a combination of the new display and a processor that uses less power.
Even though the E6 AMOLED display is made by Samsung Display, there are rumors that Samsung MX, the company that makes smartphones, hasn’t used it in the Galaxy S23 series.
The Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra’s OLED displays are said to have a maximum brightness of 1,750 nits. This would be the first time a Samsung phone has failed to compete with the best Android smartphones on the market if this is true.
Samsung’s E6 OLED panels have also been used by other Android smartphone manufacturers, such as iQOO, Vivo, and OPPO, for their most recent flagship and high-end Android smartphones. The brand-new material used in this new panel increases screen brightness while decreasing power consumption.
