One of the first devices in the extensive lineup of Samsung products to receive the OneUI 5.1 update is the Galaxy S22 series. However, it turns out that the update lacks the level of refinement that customers would expect. A report from GSMArena, citing several reports from Reddit and Samsung’s online community forum, claims that users are experiencing an increase in battery drain as a result of the update. The report goes on to say that Samsung Keyboard might be the real problem. Support pages say that users should delete the app’s cache and data and then restart their phones.
On the Galaxy S22 devices, the OneUI 5.1 upgrade also enabled Maximum Performance Mode by default. If you were in power-saving mode before the update, this could also be a reason for battery drain.
Update for Samsung Galaxy S22 series using OneUI 5.1
The Samsung Galaxy S22 series’ OneUI 5.1 update has had a significant impact on battery life. Customers have reported that the problem might be caused by the Samsung Keyboard. It is unlikely that phones with different keyboards set as main will be affected.
The better option may be to go to the Battery section, enable the Battery Saver option, change the default keyboard to something other than Samsung, and monitor the Battery section for any irregularities until Samsung releases an update.
Reddit users claim that Samsung is aware of the issue, but the company has not yet acknowledged it or commented on it. The South Korean conglomerate may release an update within the next few days, but a timetable has not yet been specified.
